Annual Fishing Derby and Clinic

Today was a beautiful day for our Rotary Club’s annual fishing derby and clinic. Rotarians were out to help make it a fun day for area children and their families. Lots of smiles, lots of fish and lots of fun! Thanks to all who came out to participate and all those Rotarians in our small but mighty club that always make it all work for our community!

A Little Hungary?

Come hear our Youth Exchange student, Eszti Toth speak about her home country of Hungary and her home city of Budapest this Friday, May 12th at 7:30 p.m. at the Shrewsbury Library. The event is free and open to all. There will be light refreshments served. It is guaranteed to be an enjoyable evening.

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year from the Wallingford Rotary!

If you are you making resolutions, and would like to make your community and your world a better place in 2017, consider joining Rotary this year.

If you are in the Wallingford, Vermont area, please come join our Wallingford Rotary, affectionately called the “Little Red Schoolhouse”. Give us a whirl by stopping by one of our meetings, 7 a.m. on Monday mornings except for the last Monday of the month, when we meet at 5:30 p.m.

Rotarians number over 1.2 million in over 200 countries and geographic areas. They work on world wide efforts, such as the eradication of polio, safe drinking water and disaster assistance and are the same folks who here in our own little community of Wallingford help sponsor Bike Safety Day and installed the beautiful fencing that graces the entrance at the Stone Meadow. The opportunities available are endless and the good you experience from helping to make our world, and our own community, a better place, are unmeasurable.

We would love to hear your ideas and have you become

a part of our community and help make 2017 a good year.

Happy and Healthy New Year!

Your Wallingford Rotarians

Welcome to the Mill River Union High School Interact Club!

_dsc0734The Wallingford Rotary was a proud group of Rotarians tonight as we hosted the inaugural induction ceremony for the Mill River Union High School Interact Club. This evening the “little red schoolhouse” was full to the brim with Interact students, parents, grandparents and Rotarians.

Our newly formed Interact Club inducted 49 members this evening led by its president, John Graves under the guidance of their teacher advisors, Debra Gardner-Baasch and Cindy Roberts. _dsc0721

When I became president of the club, it was my hope for my presidency to solidify the relationship that our rotary club had with Mill River students who were always ready and willing to lend a hand to our “small but mighty” club when we needed extra hands and help to make our community functions successful. You have seen them at the Lobsterfest, Wallingford’s Bicycle Safety Day and at Stone Meadow, just to name a few events. This evening, I am very proud that we can call them our own Interact Club.

We enjoyed a wonderful evening of food and fellowship. We even had a gigantic “happy birthday” to our Hungarian exchange student and Interact member, Eszti.

Congratulations to the officers, members and faculty directors of the Mill River Interact Club ~ we know you will do great things and spread much fellowship and good will throughout our community and the world.

Happy Sweet Sixteen!

1078753_407302382713902_1255596840_oToday, we wish our lovely Hungarian Exchange student Eszti, a very happy birthday! Eszti lives in Budapest, Hungary and is here through the Rotary Youth Exchange program. She turns “sweet sixteen” today here in the United States while staying with her first American host family. We know that it’s hard to celebrate your birthday away from family and friends and we, at the Wallingford Rotary send all our love and best wishes for a very happy birthday!

Stand Up Shakespeare

Our Hungarian exchange student was treated by one our Rotarians to a performance by the New York City Stand Up Shakespeare Company during their performance in Plymouth Notch. Ezsti was joined by two other students who will be one of her host families while she is here in the United States. Here are some pictures from the day.

Evening Meeting Kickoff

We enjoyed delicious food provided by the Wallingford Country Store, wonderful fellowship and had the chance to hear all about some of the plans that our new Mill River Union High School Interact Club has planned for the beginning of the school year.

If you are interested in hearing more about Wallingford Rotary, or the Mill River Union HS Interact Club, or just want to know how you can volunteer in our community, please join us on Monday evening, September 26th from 5:30-6:30 p.m. for our next evening meeting. We hope to see you there!
