Changing of the Gavel 2020

This morning, the leadership of the Wallingford Memorial Rotary Club changed during its annual changing of the gavel induction ceremony.

The Wallingford Rotary extends its utmost congratulations and thanks to outgoing President Randell Barclay. During his year presidency, Randell has more than exemplified the motto of Rotary – “service above self” with his work within Rotary. Randell will next be preparing for his role as upcoming District Governor Elect.

We welcomed our new President, Dave Ballou. Dave is no stranger to Rotary, this will be his fourth term as president of our club. Along with Dave, Rotarian Sue Thayer was inducted as President Elect.

Wallingford Rotary extends its best wishes to Dave and Sue as they embark on this new Rotary year, we are sure that they will have wonderful things in store for our little club! Here are some pictures of Dave and Randell who were socially distancing and masked from the Little Red Schoolhouse for the induction ceremony which was held virtually for the rest of the club.

Interact Club Inductions

The Wallingford Memorial Rotary Club is very proud of its Mill River Union High School Interact Club. Last evening, dozens of new members were inducted into the MRUHS Interact Club at their annual induction potluck dinner and ceremony held at the Little Red Schoolhouse. The Interact Club was also presented with its Silver Citation Award! Congratulations to the newly elected Board and the new members! Welcome! We are very proud of all you do to serve our community!

Visitors!

The Little Red Schoolhouse was visited today by members of the Fitchburg Massachusetts Rotary Club. We are often asked to open our doors to our fellow Rotarians from all over the world to view the schoolhouse where Paul Harris attended school while he lived here in Wallingford. We have quite the little guestbook!

If you’d like to visit us sometime, please let us know. We’re always happy to have you join us for one of our sunrise breakfast meetings or we can plan a time for a Rotarian to open the doors and give you a tour. IMG_5560

Mentoring Luncheon

The Wallingford Rotary was very happy to host its Mill River Union High School Interact Club for a career day/mentoring luncheon on Monday, April 8th at the Little Red Schoolhouse in Wallingford.

About a dozen Interact students joined Wallingford Rotary members to hear about career paths the Rotarians have chosen. Over a delicious lunch, the two groups shared fellowship and career suggestions, advice and stories.

The Interact Club will use the luncheon toward its Interact Presidential Citation award, a requirement of the prestigious award. A good time was had by all.

Leadership

Here are some photos of our president-elect Randell Barclay receiving his leadership pin at the recent Rotary Leadership Institute. Congratulations to Randell and all the others who participated!
